Message from our CEO
"When I first arrived in the U.S. as an international student from Nigeria. I quickly realized one of the
biggest struggles of student life: transportation. I didn't have a car, and getting around was tough and
expensive.
I remember my first Thanksgiving break - while most students packed their bags and left, I was stuck on
campus because Uber and flights were insane. Christmas? Same story. Spring and summer breaks? Forget about
it.
Desperate to visit family friends, I once took a long bus ride, but that experience was even worse.
I found myself sitting next to people who made me genuinely uncomfortable, including one guy openly
talking about his drug addiction.
After that, I knew buses weren’t the solution either.
At first, I thought this was just an international student problem, but soon I realized it affected
almost everyone without a car—freshmen,
out-of-state students, even some locals.
That's when I thought, what if students could just split gas money with those already driving the same
way? It would be cheaper, safer, and more convenient than Uber or buses.
That idea became RideAlong—a way for students to help each other travel affordably and comfortably. "
